Many changes have already been made for the upcoming 2010 LAN, and more to come... One thing we do during/after each LAN, is make notes so we can improve the event for the following year. Here are the changes and updates you'll see for 2010:

    1) Return Of The Dueling Pits : We love to BBQ, and do so almost every weekend. Nothing like the sweet smell of pecan wood wafting through the air. We have the same BBQ pits, and we used to "Q" at all of our events. But as the LAN grew and our work load increased, we sought out sponsors for meals. Last time we Q'd was for the 2006 LAN and honestly, we really miss it. Look for the return of the "dueling pits" for 2010 as we lay down some serious "Q" for you guys once again.

Jordo on the Pits at the '06 Winter LAN:

    2) Reserved Seating Is Now Available: We thought it unfair for the guy that has to work on Friday and can't get here till late, and has to take the "back o' the bus" table. For 2010, you'll be able to reserve your table so that no matter what time you get here, your spot will be available. Seating charts will be available on the Registration Page, and you'll pick your table/seat when you register online. Our goal is to get 26 players here this time around, so we're going to empty out the entire venue. We've already begun advertising on various websites, on the msg boards at UT, as well as Meetup groups from SA to Dallas, etc..

    3) Introducing "THE TRAYLAH": The "Computer Room", which was a portable office that Jordan and I built adjacent to the venue, was sold before the '09 LAN, and hauled off afterwards. Lotta guys slept out there over the years. It was a sad day seeing it leave for San Antonio, where it will be used as an "art studio". But, tho the computer room played a huge role in our events, we had to make room for a different type of facility which will offer more room to comfortably sleep additional players, as well as add another bathroom. For 2010, you can register for a bed in "The Traylah" when you sign up, reserve a spot in one of our awesome tents, or just crash in the house.

    The PG "Traylah":

    4) More Cash Prizes: We're giving away cash prizes for 1st thru 4th place in all THREE tournaments (For all three Deathmatch Competitions [CS:Source, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Team Fortress 2]: Individual: 1st place $40, 2nd place $30, 3rd place $25, 4th place $20.

    5) Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Added: We first introduced Battlefield:1942 at our '02 LAN and it was an instant success. Tho it was later replaced by Crysis, we couldn't wait to get back on the "battlefield". Now, one of the greatest multiplayer games is back with a vengeance; sporting a brand new engine and serious DX11 support. If you were lucky enough to play the beta with the rest of us, then you know how awesome this game will be on LAN. We'll form teams and have double elimination brackets just like we've always done, as well as a BF:BC2 Deathmatch with cash prizes.

    6) Team Fortress 2 Added: We began playing this game at our events just for fun, and because it was downloadable off Steam for cheap. We never really considered it as a tournament game, but as more and more attendees began to request it, we decided to include it in our 2010 repertoire. Double elim brackets and DM prizes just like our other two games.

    7) Back Porch Enlarged: We've increased the size of the back porch to allow for 26+ players to sit comfortably; while adding more tables and chairs. We'll also have an open area outside of the covered porch (toward the trailer) for additional seating.

    8) 2010 LAN "MOVIE" Posters: Posters will be designed/created/printed for this event. What we wanted to do for '09, but did not have time, was to create some 24" x 36" posters similar to those you see in movie theaters, which would make an awesome giveaway. The full posters would be mounted/framed for the LAN; a similar (smaller) version would appear on the website, and a much more concise application would become our new banner. T-shirt art would also arise out of and compliment this poster.

    9) Shelving Added Over Tables: 24" deep plywood panels 8' long will be located above some of your tables for storage. We'll keep 'em 55" up so they're out of the way. This will be a great place to safely stow your gear.

    10) Fees For The 2010 LAN Will NOT Increase: We ran the final numbers on the 2009 LAN, and found that we actually reduced our "per player" cost by $25.31 compared to the 2008 LAN. (This primarily due to adding ZPizza as a sponsor: '08 was $145.75/player, and '09 was $120.44/player) In case you're wondering, the most expensive year was '06 ($154.38/player). We've already created the budget for the 2010 LAN, and we're working hard to keep this event within those parameters. This is excellent news, because it means that registration fees for 2010 will remain the same as what we charged for '09 ($50).

haha... We're playing that game pretty much every night lol. :confused2:

But keep in mind that during the LAN tournament, we're all gonna start from the same level. It would really be nice if we could start everybody off at say, lvl 20 or thereabouts just to make it more interesting. We'll see...

True... but SQDM wouldn't be as much fun if your squad consisted of you and three noobs that were totally unfamiliar with the gameplay and maps. ( We're gonna have guys at the LAN with all kinds of skill lvls. ) For that reason, we probably need to treat this like we did Crysis last year: split the entire LAN up into two teams. It's a whole lot more fun that way; less pressure on the leaders to perform, and less pressure on the guys that just got the game to know what to do/where to go.

Assuming we have two teams (A and B), here's how it will could work:

Best of 3 with Team A attacking on Rush Isla Inocentes
Best of 3 with Team A defending on Rush Isla Inocentes

Best of 3 with Team A attacking on Rush Valparaiso
Best of 3 with Team A defending on Rush Valparaiso

Best of 3 with Team A attacking on Rush Arica Harbor
Best of 3 with Team A defending on Rush Arica Harbor

Finals Match : ONE ROUND ONLY on Rush Port Valdez, where the winning team from the above scenario gets to pick either attacking or defending. Judging from the schedule, this game would probably go down at like 2am.
